The works chosen for this exhibit represent cherished slices of my life and were taken in the two places most dear to my heart, Midcoast Maine and Outer Cape Cod. I admit to having a bit of wanderlust. Frequently, when I venture out to revisit my favorite spots, I am guided by intuition to veer off the familiar path and discover something new.
When I’m out exploring, I find that my thoughts and worries drop away and I am able to become fully present and finely attuned to my surroundings. I react instinctively to whatever calls my attention, or evokes a heightened feeling, and I am compelled to capture the moment with my camera. The images that result help me to remember and sustain me during the more mundane or difficult times of my life.
My photography is first, and foremost for myself. It helps to bring me back to my purest essence. I’m also honored to share my work with others. I hope it allows them to feel some of the magic I felt at the time the images were taken, or helps them recall special moments from their own lives. Or perhaps more importantly, it inspires them to be more present so as not to miss out on the beauty that is all around us.
